Blast cleaning is often the most used term in surface preparation, but focuses more on the removal of grease and other deposits generated through the manufacturing process.
Although different types of blast media can be used, glass bead is often used in blast cleaning as it comes in various sizes which will provide different levels of cleanliness and blast amplitude.
This makes it ideal for surface cleaning and deburring without causing dimensional changes. It is therefore suitable for softer metals like aluminium and brass.
We use various grades of glass bead for blasting stainless steel in particular. This would normally be used as a finish rather than to overpaint as it provides a nice satin finish.
